Description Matt Lee 2008-07-02 02:05:50 UTC
Description of problem:

Kernel package misrepresents itself for updates.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

2.6.25.6-55.fc9.i686

How reproducible:

When a kernel software update is available, click the icon in the toolbar to
install it.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Click the icon
2. Message will appear in lower right of the screen.
3.

Actual results:

kernel - the Linux kernel (the core of the Linux operating system)

Expected results:

kernel - the Linux kernel (the core of the GNU/Linux operating system)

or kernel - the Linux kernel (the core of the Fedora operating system)

Additional info:

To refer to Linux as an operating system, you misrepresent the scope of the work
of the kernel developers, the GNU developers, and confuse users unfamiliar with
history.

Shortened even further. 'The Linux kernel'.

I don't think it really needs further explanation. Committed to CVS, will be in
next build.
