I don't think that "scribus" (DTP software) is the right component for
non-working sound device. Can you post more details (OS version, application and
its version, what are your steps to see (hear) that the device doesn't work,
etc.) so the right component and product can be chosen?

The OS is: 

Red Hat Enterprise Linux Desktop with Workstation and Multi-OS options (ver. 5)


 

The computer itself is: Lenovo (IBM) Think centre: model MTM- 9839

 

I activate from the Administration-Menu (in KDE) the Audio Configuration –
application.

And I could not hear a sound while Testing. (It detects: Intel Corp. 82801g
A.D.C.)

 

Attached is the file generated by the system.

NEEDINFO was asking if a DUP of bug 445629 "alsa-lib-1.0.14-1.rc4.el5.

Different CODEC so unlikely it is a DUP.
