Description Scott Williams 2008-09-11 17:16:27 UTC
Description of problem:

I would like to request an OEM install functionality that would have by default, the 'powered by Fedora' logos instead of fedora-logos, allow the root password to be set in firstboot, and possibly allow a temporary user (like fedora on the live CD) to allow the OEM to configure personalized settings before shipping. This has the benefit of making Fedora easier and more appealing to OEMs.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Fedora 10, anaconda and firstboot

How reproducible:

n/a

Steps to Reproduce:
1.n/a
2.
3.

Actual results:

n/a

Expected results:

n/a

Additional info:

I have seen this functionality in other distros, so it may be beneficial to see how it was implemented elsewhere to see how easy this addition would be to implement.

The anaconda and firstboot portions should be fairly easy to accomplish using the livecd tools and reconfig mode in firstboot. You should be able to build an image that has all that set up, then just be able to blast it on with the livecd installer. If there is a logos package you have to use, that can also be added via the respin tools.
