Description QingLong 2008-10-03 18:14:24 UTC
Description of problem:
Kernels hangs during startup just after
   isapnp: Scanning for PnP cards...
isapnp: No Plug & Play device found

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
2.6.26.5-45.fc9.i686

How reproducible:
100%

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Get sony vaio PCG-6Q1M notebook.
2. Install Fedora 9 on it.
3. Update the kernel.
4. Try to boot the new kernel.

Actual results:
Startup hangs

Expected results:
Should work

Additional info:
1. acpi=off does work around the problem
but using the notebook without power management (power saving,
battery and other indicators, etc. is rather uncomfortable).
2. The bug is not present in 2.6.25.14-108.fc9.i686,
but that kernel screws gnome-power-manager (it just doesn't it's job)
and freezes the system if you try to put in either power saving mode.
