Description Feng Yu 2008-10-04 00:43:58 UTC
Description of problem:

IPW2100 Wireless stops after suspend/resume.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
kernel-2.6.26.5-45.fc9.i686
ipw2100-firmware-1.3-8.noarch

How reproducible:
always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. update to the given versions.
2. suspend
3. resume

Actual results:

Wireless is lost. dmesg shows the firmware fails while loading.

Expected results:

Workaround

modprobe -r ipw2100
modprobe ipw2100

Comment 2 Feng Yu 2008-12-02 23:53:26 UTC
This still exist with Fedora 10.

Shouldn't the quirk be included in the pmutils as a temporary fix?

Comment 3 Matthias Saou 2008-12-22 19:11:53 UTC
Changing to component kernel and reassigning to the default maintainer, since this doesn't seem to be a firmware package problem.

Comment 4 dongjibing 2009-09-14 02:53:54 UTC
Please install ipw2100-firmware.noarch packages, and try again

Comment 5 Feng Yu 2009-09-14 03:33:08 UTC
Which version of ipw2100-firmware.noarch do you want me to try?

I am on a Fedora 11 now. The wireless adapter still occasionally disappears after suspending, with ipw2100-firmware-1.3-9

Comment 6 Feng Yu 2009-09-14 03:38:26 UTC
FYI: the random firmware failure is related to the Burst Mode of the access points + a bug in either the ipw2100 kernel driver or ipw2100 firmware.

It is a know problem (acknowledged in ipw2100 documents) and is likely unrelated to the issue with suspending. Refer to https://bugs.launchpad.net/intellinuxwireless/+bug/24776

Would you please append lspci -v, dmesg output and /var/log/pm-suspend.log on Fedora 11, when the adapter disappears after suspending. It will be helpful to solve the issue in driver.

Comment 12 Bug Zapper 2009-11-18 07:55:42 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 10 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 10. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '10'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 10's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 10 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 13 Bug Zapper 2009-12-18 06:30:09 UTC
Fedora 10 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2009-12-17. Fedora 10 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
