Description of problem:
There is too much redundancy in the "new" shutdown command from the menu.
KDE Desktop.
Select "F"
Select "Leave"
Get Choice (Logout/Lock/Switch User/Suspend to RAM/Suspend to Disk/Shutdown/Restart)
Select "Shutdown"

Now one gets another popup menu that has the same choices.
(Logout/Turn off Computer/Restart Computer) (with submenu options "Suspend to Ram" and "Suspend to Disk".

I would encourage either eliminating the confirmation pop-up, or keeping the popup, and eliminating the choices from the menu, leaving only a "shutdown" button.

I would also add a choice of "Clean Shutdown" which would forget all the open programs/windows.

Nod, many a upstream bug reported on this already. :(

Unfortunately, there is no simple fix.

I can dig up some of the upstream bug references if you like.

In the meantime, my current favorite workaround is: right click Desktop -> logout (or ALT-F2, type: logout) which avoids one level of redundancy.

AFAIK this has finally be fixed in 4.2 (the confirmation dialog now only shows the selected option and cancel).

Other possibility - you can add Lock/Logout Plasma applet to your panel and avoid unnecessary steps in F menu.
