nm-applet is the program that provides the menu, and is auto-launched on login when NetworkManager-gnome is installed. Can you see if the 'nm-applet' process is running, and if so, do you have a Notification Area applet on your GNOME panel? If not, you'll need to add one. It's where the power manager icon normally sits on a default install. indeed, clicking the nm-applet offers a menu but, before i have the time to go to that menu, network manager starts trying to autoconnect to each network in the list, thus asking for almost each network to provide a(nother) key. this is not aproble if there's one network but if there are about 12 nets avilable, and if it's true what i believe, that after trying every network and failing it starts again, this is really annoying, you know. In the connection editor (right-click on the applet, then choose "Edit connections..."), you can uncheck the "connect automatically" checkbox for each wifi network, and delete networks you don't care about. Then, you can manually connect to each wifi network as you see fit. while i agree this is not exactly a bug, i believe it would be better to have all "connect automatically" reset, and only check the ones you want. thnx. |
