Description Gary Benson 2008-12-19 14:08:40 UTC
Description of problem:
Selecting a key to be a compose key in gnome-keyboard-properties does not work. The key stops being the key it was, but it doesn't start being a compose key.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
control-center-2.24.0.1-9.fc10.x86_64

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open gnome-keyboard-properties (System > Preferences > Hardware > Keyboard)
2. Go into the Layouts tab
3. Click "Layout Options..."
4. Click "Compose key position"
5. Select "Right Alt is Compose"
6. Click "Close"
7. Click in the "Type to test settings" box
8. Hold down right alt, and type "a'"

Actual results:
There is a beep, and nothing appears in the text box.

Expected results:
The character "รก" should appear in the text box.

Additional info:
Note that the right alt key is no longer acting as an alt key. If it had been, the thing you just typed would have activated the "Add..." button.

Note that the selected options are being added to the GConf database:

 mambo:[~]$ gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd
  layouts = [us]
  model = pc105
  options = [Compose key compose:ralt]

Yesterday's yum update fixed this.
