Description Jay Jaeger 2009-01-11 16:31:36 UTC
Description of problem:

lirc_serial does not start with the proper default options. softcarrier is not set to 1 as it should be.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

lirc-0.8.4a-1.fc10.i386

How reproducible:

Attempt to control most any device with an IR "blaster"

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set up an IR blaster device on COM1
2. modprobe lirc_serial
3. /etc/init.d/lirc start
4. Attempt to use "irsend" to control something with the IR device.

Actual results:

The IR control does not work, though it may appear to be working: DTR is toggled, but not correctly.

Expected results:

The IR contro should work. The issue is that lirc_serial should be started with option softcarrier=1 by default, but is apparently not being started with that option by default.

Additional info:

If you add option softcarrier=1 to an entry inside directory /etc/modprobe.d, things work correctly.

In 2.6.27.20-170.2.49.rc1 and later. Also fixed (some time ago) in rawhide. Apologies for taking so long to get around to it for F10. :\
