Created attachment 331593 [details] patch for kernel for BZ 484836 Adding the kernel patch to this BZ which is tracking the kernel side of the fix. Copying the comments posted to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=474157 which is tracking the userspace portion of this fix: =========================== The kernel patch was tested on a RHEL 5.2 guest running under z/VM 5.3.0 with APAR VM64603 applied The patch works as expected. Thank you very much. Updating PM score. The patch has been posted to rhkernel on Feb 28. by Hans-Joachim Picht <hpicht> This is rhkernel as per RHEL 5.4? in kernel-2.6.18-136.el5 You can download this test kernel from http://people.redhat.com/dzickus/el5 Please do NOT transition this bugzilla state to VERIFIED until our QE team has sent specific instructions indicating when to do so. However feel free to provide a comment indicating that this fix has been verified. Hi Don, Is this kernel version kernel-2.6.18-136.el5 for RHEL 5.2 or RHEL 5.3 ? I try apply this fix to RHEL 5.2 and get the following errors [root@lx53cr01r5u2 HOTFIX]# rpm -U *.rpm error: Failed dependencies: ecryptfs-utils < 44 conflicts with kernel-2.6.18-136.el5.s390x ecryptfs-utils < 44 conflicts with kernel-debug-2.6.18-136.el5.s390x ecryptfs-utils < 44 conflicts with kernel-kdump-2.6.18-136.el5.s390x Thanks, Tong - it is a post RHEL 5.3 kernel (-128 was RHEL 5.3 GA, therefore anything after that is a RHEL 5.4 build). I would recommend that you install RHEL 5.3 GA, and then just rpm -ivh the -136 kernels. That's just my guess... Do you have a kernel fix for 5.2 and 5.3 that I need to verify ?
