the lag, display being slow is evident in runlevel 3 too.. Switching to kernel. --- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers I have just installed ubuntu 8.10 on this same machine in dual boot with fedora 10 and the things are working fine. There are no display problems in ubuntu but the problem is unchanged in fedora. The temperatures are much lower now (dont think 'coz of ubuntu), around 46c and never cross 50c. I'm posting some outputs from ubuntu. Created attachment 334120 [details]

This message is a reminder that Fedora 10 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 10. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '10'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 10's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 10 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Created attachment 373023 [details]

fedora 12 tests. Installation with f12 finished smoothly unlike f10 and f11. But there was not display when i rebooted, after a while the scree went off. so I ran a few tests and attaching the logs (dmesg and messages) as under. # STEP 1:- runlevel 1 #STEP 2:- runlevel 1 nomodeset acpi=off pci=msi And when i tried to start X, it said in a blue screen, you can say partial GUI but with no mouse or keyboard response "kstartconfig4 doesnt exist of fails" since i have installed kde and not gnome. #STEP 3:- runlevel 3 nomodeset acpi=off pci=msi #STEP 4:- runlevel 3 on starting X it said following things:- ext4-fs error (device sda4) in ext4_new_inode: journal has aborted mpage_da_map_blocks block allocation failed for inode 36 at logical offset 0 with max blocks 1 with error -30 this should dont hapen! data will be lost! ext4-fs error (device sda4) in ext4_da_writepages: journal has aborted ext4-fs error (device sda4) ext4_journal_start.sb: detected aborted jornal ext4-fs error (device sda4) remounting filestatyen read onyl ext4_da_writepages: jbd2_start: 1024 pages, ino 36:err -30 /usr/bin/ksmtuned: line 67 /usr/bin/pgrep: input/output error /usr/bin/ksmtuned: line 67: /bin/ps: input/output erro and kept on repeating last lines. Fedora 12 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.
