Assigning it. This message is a reminder that Fedora 10 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 10. Created attachment 333648 [details] Patch to add STATE_HOOK for site customisation. By way of background, I have a set up where a random computer can be configured with PXE boot and it will boot diskless without any manual server size configuration. For this to work properly, the server needs to create a private nfs export, if one doesn't already exist, with puppet keys on it. It also creates a swapdevice as an iscsi target, which the client can then connect to and swapoff (since nfs swap is not supported). To do this, the root partition has an ssh key on it, so the client can ssh into a particular account without a password and trigger the provision of the private nfs space and the swap space. I know this is not really secure, since anyone with access to the network could plug in a device, get the ssh key and use it for a DoS attack, but it is good enough for my environment. BUT, to do this I have to modify /etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit to issue the ssh command, before the STATE_MOUNT device can be mounted. The approach is to add a STATE_HOOK (normally undefined) which can be defined in /etc/sysconfig/readonly-root so it expands to arbitrary shell script code. I actually define a function which is invoked by STATE_HOOK. See the attached patch.
