Description of problem:
After logging in gnome-power-manager displays a "Battery may be broken" messages suggesting my battery has a very low capacity (0%), which means that it may be old or broken

gnome-power-manager-2.26.0-1.fc11.i586

Expected results:
Normal functioning g-p-m with accurate battery capacity monitoring

Additional info:
The message is display regardless if the system is actually working on battery power or mains. The actual battery state is missing from the notification area while the app is still running. Switching between mains and battery power does not change the situation.
The battery state is correctly display when reading from /proc/acpi/battery/BAT1/state
