Try adding 'nomodeset' to the boot options. This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 11 development cycle. Changing version to '11'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping I get Jun 17 15:50:41 rocky kernel: i2c-adapter i2c-2: unable to read EDID block. Jun 17 15:50:41 rocky kernel: i915 0000:00:02.0: DVI-D-1: no EDID data On pressing fn-F7 key for switching to a connected LCD .. which does not work .. Is this related ? This issue is for F11. Moreover I am not able to maximize any window to full screen: http://rakesh.fedorapeople.org/misc/Screenshot.png But this seems to different issue. Created attachment 351132 [details] Comment #5 dmidecode dmicode from Lenovo T400 I'm experiencing the same issue. My hardware is a Dell Latitude D410, dual monitor. My dual head setup (laptop screen + external monitor connected via DVI connector on docking station) worked under F10, but now is broken under F11. I'm getting the same messages in syslog with a slight twist. When this message is written, the screen flashes. I'm currently running the following kernel because upgrading to the most recent 213 kernel breaks sound badly (I've added comments to other bugs about that already). # uname -r 2.6.29.5-191.fc11.i586 Here is a sample of the messages I'm getting in syslog: i2c-adapter i2c-0: unable to read EDID block. i915 0000:00:02.0: VGA-1: no EDID data i2c-adapter i2c-0: unable to read EDID block. i915 0000:00:02.0: VGA-1: no EDID data [drm] TV-15: set mode NTSC 480i 0 [drm] TV-15: set mode NTSC 480i 0 And here is lspci -vv output relevant to my graphics controller: 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 915GM/GMS/910GML Express Graphics Controller (rev 03) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Hewlett-Packard Company NC6220 Control: I/O+ Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Stepping- SERR- FastB2B- DisINTx- Status: Cap+ 66MHz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=fast >TAbort- <TAbort- <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR- INTx- Latency: 0 Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 16 Region 0: Memory at d0400000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=512K] Region 1: I/O ports at 5000 [size=8] Region 2: Memory at c0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=256M] Region 3: Memory at d0480000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256K] Expansion ROM at <unassigned> [disabled] Capabilities: <access denied> Kernel driver in use: i915 Kernel modules: i915 With all of these issues, I really wish that someone would increase the priority and urgency of these bugs. I didn't have any of these problems on F10 and I'm really starting to regret updating all of my laptops to F11. I have the same kernel messages. In addition, the X display sometimes gets corrupted. This happens when viewing an image with gthumb (but oddly enough not imagemajick display command line) and when trying to watch videos on youtube. All of the described problems were related to SELinux. After disabling SELinux everything is working great, better than ever :) to disable SELinux : run terminal $ sudo vim /etc/selinux/config you need to change one line to: SELINUX=disabled save file (press Esc and type ":wq", push enter) and reboot. Njoy ^^ I would consider disabling SELinux a bad solution as it is a key security feature that you really want to keep turned on. It is interesting if the issue is SELinux related. I'll try and verify. No need to test it. I can assure you that not only these issues are solved with disabling SELinux but also a lots of others programs (such as apache). I really don't see how SELinux is helpful in any way. I would write more precisely: "SELinux chuja robi" - please check this in google.com/translate (polish -> english). SELinux IS NOT a key feature to security! Turning selinux off does not fix the X display problem for me. I tested to set SELinux to 'disabled' without any affect on this issue. Keep in mind that the purpose of Bugzilla is to solve bugs. So try keep trolling to a minimum. I'm not sure what you are basing this on. At http://docs.fedoraproject.org SELinux is not only dealt with in the Fedora Security Guide, but also in two separat documents that describes SELinux specifically. If it wasn't considered a key security feature, the Fedora Community wouldn't be spending such effort in making it available. Disabling SELinux to get rid of any minor issues could be compared to removing all the doors in your house because they are making squeaky noises - It's an disproportional response for a small issue. (In reply to comment #14) > No need to test it. I can assure you that not only these issues are solved with > disabling SELinux but also a lots of others programs (such as apache). > Where do you get these ideas from? I run with selinux enabled 100% of the time and don't have problems with "lots of other programs." This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life. Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora 'version' of '11'. Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version' to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life. Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version, please add a comment here and someone will do it for you. Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes bugs or makes them obsolete. The process we are following is described here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping Fedora 11 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-06-25. Fedora 11 is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug. If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version. Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed. |
