Description Ivan 2009-04-07 14:36:26 UTC
Description of problem:
Anaconda didn't install grub correctly.
I had to enter grub console (previously installed Ubuntu's grub) and boot manually:

> grub (hd0, 4)
> kernel /boot/vmlinuz[tab] root=0804
> initrd /boot/init[tab]
> boot

I managed to boot successfully (I'm running this precise Fedora 11 beta box right now).

The Fedora's /boot/ was barely created. No grub.conf and no grub/*.

At the installation process, Anaconda reported it was unable to mount /dev/sda4 as /, after copying the Fedora Image (sorry, I can't remember the name correctly) to the disk.

I was booting from a USB pen drive created using UNetBootin from Ubuntu.
The ISO image sha1sum matches, the installation disk was not corrupted.

I should've saved the Anaconda's python log, but I unfortunately I didn't.

I'm also wondering if there's a way to (re-)install Grub, in a automated way (kinda like Anaconda does).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
Fedora 11 Beta

What version of anaconda did you use?

With no traceback we don't have much to go on here.

Try firstaidkit. (the grub plugin)
