A screenshot of my complete desktop, made while the display on the tft monitor was distorted.

Description of problem:
I have dual monitor setup with a crt monitor (1600x1200; d-sub) and a tft monitor (1920x1200; dvi). This works fine when I boot with the nomodeset kernel boot option. If I omit this option the tft monitor seems to display the same image that is on the crt monitor in a very corrupted manner. Windows I open on the ctr monitor have some vague mirror image on the tft monitor.

The cursor can still move from one monitor to the other, and judging by the screenshot I took with ksnapshot the X server seems to think everything is fine.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
F11 preview KDE-4

How reproducible:
Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Just boot without the nomodeset kernel boot option
2.
3.

Actual results:
Distorted and unusable image on the tft monitor.

Expected results:
A nice big desktop consisting of both monitors.

Additional info:
Radeon 9800-Pro video card.

Sorry about the component mentioned in the bug report being xalan-c. I missed that when filing the original bug and can't find a way to alter it now. I don't really know which component is concerned here.

Thanks for your report.

Given you have a Radeon GPU, I guess you use an "ati" driver, reassigning appropriately. You'd be likely asked to attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log by the desktop people; please attach it (and in case you have /etc/X11/xorg.conf, please attach it as well).

Comment 5 Huub Schaeks 2009-05-03 12:44:28 UTC
Yes, I use the ati driver, that is, I haven't installed the fglrx driver which doesn't support my card anyway, iirc.

I will attach my xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log both with and without kernel mode setting.

Comment 8 Huub Schaeks 2009-05-03 12:56:58 UTC
This bug report can be closed. Upgrading to the 2.6.29.1-111.fc11 kernel fixed this issue for me.

Thanks
