Description Michal Nowak 2009-05-14 12:49:36 UTC
Description of problem:

    [...]
    # Restart cryptdisks
    /etc/init.d/cryptdisks restart
    [...]

    [root@hp-ml370g4-01 ~]# rpmquery -f /etc/init.d/cryptdisks
error: file /etc/init.d/cryptdisks: No such file or directory

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

ecryptfs-utils-75-1.el5

Actual results:

Ubuntu/Debian "specific" service trigged.

Expected results:

Not sure of the RHEL/Fedora equivalent, or whether we need it at all, but if we do, I'd suggest to restart the service this way:

  service $name restart

Comment 1 Michal Hlavinka 2009-05-18 09:26:42 UTC
well... I can't see any related service in fedora/rhel. Only hard-wired stuff in /etc/rc.sysinit

and (afaik) this can't be restarted.

/etc/rc.sysinit and /etc/crypttab are owned by initscripts

Bill, is there any easy way how to start using encrypted swap added to /etc/crypttab without reboot?

Comment 2 Michal Hlavinka 2009-05-18 14:19:33 UTC
I'm going to remove reference to cryptdisks service and replace it with "you need to reboot" if there is no other way.

Comment 3 Bill Nottingham 2009-05-18 18:57:34 UTC
There's no specific way to call into it, no. You can always set it up and add it by hand (much like any other fstab device or encrypted device)

ok, thanks for the answer.
