Therefore, I'm reopening this bug and asking for exception so I can drop host uuid from guest smbios.
Please do not drop this. We have requirements to eventually support Host-based entitlement rules for KVM guests, where the Host is *not* registered to the management system (RHN/Satellite). Therefore the guest must provide this information. -Todd (In reply to comment #3) > On Wed, Jun 17, 2009 at 09:12:19AM -0400, James Bowes wrote: > > > > smbios.system.uuid holding the id of the virtual machine is what we > > want; The guest doesn't need to know anything about the host for our > > uses. > > > > Therefore, I'm reopening this bug and asking for exception so I can drop host > uuid from guest smbios. As Todd said, don't drop the info. I was misinformed about the requirements. Fine. As long as you are aware that the host uuid that I pass 1. may well be empty (not all hardware manufacturers fill it up) 2. is out of date once the vm is migrated to another source. So according to comment #10 and comment #11, this bug fixed on sp191.Change status to "verified". If somebody can reproduced this, please reopen. |
