 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
 You could try running: package-cleanup --problems
                        package-cleanup --dupes
                        rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

--skip-broken or package-cleanup aren't going to help here.

That being said, propagating the error type all the way up may not
be feasible.

 That's why it says "you could try", when we get to that bit it's very often because depsolving failed ... but not always, and sometimes none of those things will help the depsolving either.
 It seems rationale to assume that people using yum from the command line could work out when to try the above, or not.
