screenshot showing the effect
I was able to capture the effect in a screenshot.
Can you please provide /var/log/Xorg.0.log, just in case it happens to be useful? Thanks. Created attachment 345087 [details]

Xorg.0.log for i845 with KMS enabled
Here is my Xorg.0.log for i845 with KMS enabled - I get lines in web pages and the caracters are distorted by some dashed 1 pixel lines.

Captured image that shows the phantom lines
I managed to take a screenshot for those lines - I think this is the best way to make my poin clear. The lines appear also in terminal window.
Thanks for your effort!
Thanks, guys. Confirming, I too have the problem as highlighted by kicsia. This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 11 development cycle. Changing version to '11'. More information and reason for this action is here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping I have installed F11 w/updates on a board with the same 82845G video device as the reporter of this bug. As in the past, dotted horizontal lines appear throughout the GNOME desktop "decorating" characters. Installed packages include: - kernel-PAE-2.6.30.6-53.fc11.i686 - libdrm-2.4.11-2.fc11.i586 - mesa-*-7.6-0.2.fc11.i586 - xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.7.0-7.fc11.i586 - xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.4-0.1.fc11.i586 If there has been any upstream update to the 2.7.0 branch of xf86-video-intel, it would be highly welcome to have this as a Fedora update. This is a real annoyance, and you need at least to know about KMS and how to disable it in order to get rid of this issue. Also seeing this issue in the Fedora 11 xfce spin.Presently the LVM have resolved the issue but that does not seems to be the healthy resolution. There should be a fix for this. Looking for any update / fix. Following are the installed packages. Please let me know if any thing more is needed. kernel.i586 2.6.29.4-167.fc11 xorg-x11-drv-intel.i586 2.7.0-7.fc11 xorg-x11-server-Xorg.i586 1.6.4-0.1.fc11 Since this bugzilla report was filed, there have been several major updates in various components of the Xorg system, which may have resolved this issue. Users who have experienced this problem are encouraged to upgrade their system to the latest version of their packages. For packages from updates-testing repository you can use command yum upgrade --enablerepo='*-updates-testing' Alternatively, you can also try to test whether this bug is reproducible with the upcoming Fedora 12 distribution by downloading LiveMedia of F12 Beta available at http://alt.fedoraproject.org/pub/alt/nightly-composes/ . By using that you get all the latest packages without need to install anything on your computer. For more information on using LiveMedia take a look at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FedoraLiveCD . Please, if you experience this problem on the up-to-date system, let us now in the comment for this bug, or whether the upgraded system works for you. If you won't be able to reply in one month, I will have to close this bug as INSUFFICIENT_DATA. Thank you. [This is a bulk message for all open Fedora Rawhide Xorg-related bugs. I'm adding myself to the CC list for each bug, so I'll see any comments you make after this and do my best to make sure every issue gets proper attention.] Could you please reply to the previous question? If you won't reply in one month, I will have to close this bug as INSUFFICIENT_DATA. Thank you. [Note please, that this is machine generated comment for large amount of bugs; due to some technical issues, it is possible we've missed some of the responses -- it is happens, please, just a make a comment about that; that we will see. Thank you] The issue i mentioned is not possible to simulate since, the machine on which i was facing the issue is no more with me. I did filed couple of xorg bugs related to that machine and also did updated when i lost hold of that machine, but sincerley don't know how this one got missed. thanks. however, let's keep this open as others also reported seeing the problem. other reporters, can you please give us an update? I am no longer seeing the issue on my hardware (using Fedora 12 live cd). ( My adapter is Intel Corporation 82845G/GL[Brookdale-G]/GE Chipset Integrated Graphics Device (rev 03). ) Thank you for letting us know. |
