Description Alexey Kuznetsov 2009-06-12 11:51:54 UTC
I tried to manage printers remotely by using firefox. When i tied to login via local name (http://mini.local:631) i got "400 Bad Request"

Error in cups error log:

W [12/Jun/2009:15:39:56 +0400] Request from "192.168.54.10" using invalid Host: field "mini.local:631"

But when i do it by ip address everything works fine.

I also expect troubles with manage printers by remote system-config-printer utility. It probably same name related bug.

The CUPS server does not know that mini.local is a valid name for that machine, probably because there is no reverse name lookup available for its interface address.

Use 'ServerAlias mini.local' in the /etc/cups/cupsd.conf file on the server.

Comment 2 Alexey Kuznetsov 2009-06-17 12:30:10 UTC
mini is host name described in /etc/sysconfig/network. mini.local is correct mdns name for host, generated by avahi.

avahi is discovery service used by cups...

if it not a bug, then it a important feature. not?

Comment 3 Tim Waugh 2009-06-17 13:15:26 UTC
"mini.local" may be the correct mdns name, but it seems not to be the available DNS name for the IP address associated with any of the network interfaces for that machine.

mdns names are not DNS names.
