Appearance of the utility with all tabs in main window

I tried to design proposed layout with all tabs in main window but it looks too
crowded. Can somebody please check this layout and tell me his opinion before I
will try to create fully operational patch? Thanks

That only shows tabs for editing rules.

How does the user view current auditing status, and daemon settings (the above-mentioned Settings - Edit)?

First two buttons on toolbar are for enabling and disabling audit service. 5th button is configuration - same as Settings - Edit. There is also state informations in the status bar.

Usually, the main application are contains information more important, or more frequently used, than an application-wide settings dialog, and I'm quite convinced this is the case here.  On the other hand I don't have any data to suggest it isn't the case, either.

The GUI does look much better.  Feel free to go head with the patch :)

Proposed patch that relayouts the window

This patch contains a big bunch of changes to achieve suggested layout. I tried to preserve current functionality but it needs to be properly tested. It also makes OK buttons sensitive to changes but it won't a problem to make them non-sensitive (it depends on final decision in bug #507806).

Final decision in bug #507806 was done.

This bug appears to have been reported against 'rawhide' during the Fedora 12 development cycle.
Changing version to '12'.

Thanks for your report.  I'm afraid further development of s-c-audit was stopped and no significant changes are currently planned; I briefly looked at the patch at the time it was posted, but I was not able to find the time required to properly integrate it.
