Description DuvJones 2009-06-27 19:16:57 UTC
Description of problem:
A rather interesting discrepancy in what is written in the release notes to correct "zaping" and how to correct the actual problem.
Based on Release notes, to re-activate "zapping" (the <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Backspace> command for restarting X11) a person is directed to edit their "/etc/X11/xorg.conf" file with this...

Section "ServerFlags"
Option "DontZap" "false"
EndSection

Alas, what I find out is that basically this advice does nothing. After a reboot, X11 still doesn't enable the command for the user. After a little searching on Fedora Fourms, I found this blog entry with explains quite abit on how to enable "zapping" for Fedora:

http://ryanler.wordpress.com/2009/06/11/controlaltbackspace-shortcut-does-not-restart-the-x-server-in-fedora-11/

If this blogger is anything to go by, the method to activate the command is a little different. So after a read... and trying it, I am quite confident in his/her method (which has been working) compared to what is written in the release notes (which sadly does nothing).
If anything, I was wondering if that section could be changed to reflect what is working (after some testing, of course)

Comment 2 John J. McDonough 2010-01-02 00:46:53 UTC
This was fixed in fedora-release-notes-11.0.1-2 which was never pushed. It will be pushed with fedora-release-notes-11.0.4-1
