Description Vadym Chepkov 2009-07-11 20:09:18 UTC
dbus-1.2.12-1.fc11.i586

Every time a local selinux module is installed or upgraded a log entry is posted in /var/log/messages:

Jul 11 08:10:36 hut dbus: Can't send to audit system: USER_AVC avc: received policyload notice (seqno=5)#012: exe="?" (sauid=81, hostname=?, addr=?, terminal=?)
Jul 11 08:10:37 hut dbus: Reloaded configuration

Comment 1 Eddie Lania 2009-08-12 07:34:20 UTC
Here too:

Aug 12 09:31:34 ls2ka dbus: avc: received policyload notice (seqno=5)
Aug 12 09:31:34 ls2ka dbus: Can't send to audit system: USER_AVC avc: received policyload notice (seqno=5)#012: exe="?" (sauid=81, hostname=?, addr=?, terminal=?)
Aug 12 09:31:34 ls2ka dbus: Reloaded configuration

Comment 2 Daniel Walsh 2009-08-12 19:27:39 UTC
This has got to be the most fixed bug in history.

session bus is trying to send an audit message when running as non root. It is not allowed so the message gets rerouted to /var/log/messages.

dbus should be changed to not send the AVC if it is not running as root.

Comment 3 Eddie Lania 2009-08-18 20:05:53 UTC
Weel, it isn't:

ps -ef |grep -i dbus
dbus 1655 1 0 Aug17 ? 00:00:00 dbus-daemon --system
gdm 28157 1 0 09:30 ? 00:00:00 /usr/bin/dbus-launch --exit-with-session
gdm 28158 1 0 09:30 ? 00:00:00 /bin/dbus-daemon --fork --print-pid 5 --print-address 7 --session

But please can you tell me what I have to do to correct this issue?

With kind regards,

Eddie.

You need to get dbus to fix their code.

They are attempting to send an audit message when they don't have the privs. So a message gets send to /var/log/message.

When they startup a flag needs to be set to tell them they are running as root or not.

Any update on this? I am observing this issue upon each reboot on F12.

Comment 6 Bug Zapper 2010-04-27 15:37:06 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '11'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 7 Bug Zapper 2010-06-28 13:34:50 UTC
Fedora 11 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-06-25. Fedora 11 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
