Description of problem: totem will play the attached wmv file in about 10 seconds. vlc on the other had will play this in the 1:48 it should. I have all the gstreamer packages installed, including the "bad and ugly".

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

How reproducible:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Just play the Rain.wmv file in totem
2.
3.

Actual results: Plays in 10 or so seconds

Expected results: Should play in 1:48

Additional info: I am running F11 in vbox and don't have audio so I can't describe what it sounds like.

I think the issue affects gstreamer because it also happens with rhythmbox where, for some strange reasons, music suddenly fast-forward. I tested these on both desktop and laptop running Fedora 11 Leonidas. The bug should be assigned to gstreamer team instead,

Comment 2 Bastien Nocera 2009-10-05 11:56:02 UTC
The file works fine here. My guess is that the pipeline's clock gets confused because there's no audio sink to synchronise with.

Ed, can you reproduce the problem using:
gst-launch playbin uri=file:///path/to/Rain.wmv
or:
gst-launch playbin2 uri=file:///path/to/Rain.wmv

Luya, I guess you do have a sound card, so file a separate bug if you can still reproduce the bug.

No need to file separate bug report beccause the issue no longer happens which both latest version of rhythmbox, totem and gstreamer. Be in mind the bug is two months-old and the update somewhat fixed the issues on both desktop and laptop. I do not know if the original reporter got his/her issue solved otherwise that bug report can be closed.

It is fixed here as well....
