I see this also during installation of F-12-Alpha. The kernel doesn't reboot problem. Pressing <ctrl><alt>-delete is required.

Comment 2 James Laska 2009-08-04 19:15:04 UTC
Adding this to the F-12-Alpha review bug list for consideration.

= Known Workaround =
 * Manually press <ctrl><alt>-Delete

= Impact =
 * This is largely an impact to testing as this will impede any automated testing or provisioning of F-12-Alpha

Comment 3 Ray Strode [halfline] 2009-08-04 19:59:07 UTC
This probably isn't a plymouth issue. can those seeing this problem take rhgb off the kernel command line to help identify the real problem?

Comment 4 James Laska 2009-08-04 20:29:38 UTC
Reassigning to kernel, I'm encountering this after the reboot step during F-12-Alpha installation.

Attempting to grab sysrq output ...

Comment 5 James Laska 2009-08-05 14:36:51 UTC
Should we moved this to MODIFIED now?

Comment 6 James Laska 2009-08-05 14:41:37 UTC
Moving back to anaconda and to MODIFIED per discussion with Chris Lumens on #fedora-qa

Comment 7 Jesse Keating 2009-08-06 22:18:10 UTC
Seems there was 2 problems reported here. 1) an installed system cannot reboot, and 2) anaconda installs don't reboot.

1) seems to be fixed, at least I can't reproduce it here.

2) looks to be fixed upstream, but we need a new anaconda to verify that.

Comment 8 Jesse Keating 2009-08-11 18:56:55 UTC
Hrm, so this still seems somewhat broken. I hit the reboot button at the end of the install, and X seems to go away, but the system never actually reboots. There is a spin up of the boot.iso media too but I really can't see what's going on. Going to try a kickstart install and see if that is able to reboot.

Comment 9 Andy Lindeberg 2009-08-11 19:04:42 UTC
Yes, I'm seeing that as well. Peter's hopefully going to take a look at it this afternoon.

Comment 10 Jesse Keating 2009-08-11 20:21:18 UTC
I did a kickstart and it looks like the logging gets all the way to "sending kill signals...done" but never farther than that. No obvious error messages on any of the other terminals either.

Comment 11 He Rui 2009-08-12 05:52:24 UTC
I tested on rawhide 20090811, got the same issue, only displays "sending kill signals ...done", and hangs up there.

Comment 12 Bill Nottingham 2009-08-13 13:51:34 UTC
Please test with today's (20090813) rawhide; this should be fixed in anaconda-12.14.

Comment 13 A. Mani 2009-08-13 17:16:47 UTC
In F12 alpha X86-64, the screen just hung after the installation of packages. I used the F2,3,4 .. keys to check up everything and rebooted it from terminal.

There were some python errors for anaconda in the terminal, but could not capture it.

Comment 14 Jesse Keating 2009-08-13 20:54:32 UTC
Comment #13 might be seeing a different bug. I've confirmed that x86_64 is capable of rebooting after install.

Comment 15 Orion Poplawski 2009-08-13 21:00:16 UTC
My install today rebooted fine as well after seeing the problem yesterday.

Comment 16 He Rui 2009-08-14 02:55:09 UTC
WoW, I just tested rawhide 20090813, it can reboot now and the whole installation goes on successfully.

Comment 17 He Rui 2009-09-16 09:07:12 UTC
Today I tested rawhide 20090915(anaconda-12.24) for install test, in several times it cannot reboot automatically after installation. system just hangs there when the screen displaying 'restarting system machine restart'
