Bug 516494

Note: I reported this bug against Totem, but ALL other media players I tried (VLC and Mplayer) have the same problem. I do not know which common component is causing the issues, therefore I chose to report it against the player (Totem) itself. I apologize if I did this in error.

Description of problem:
Playing any video file causes the player process to consume around 80% cpu (around 150% according to top). (3ghz dual core intel processor).
Audio-only files play fine.

The videocard I'm using is an Intel 865g, and I'm using KMS. (Not sure whether this is relevant - unfortunately X crashes whenever I try to log in with KMS disabled, so I can't check whether KMS is causing this)

xorg-x11-drv-intel (not sure whether relevant): 2.7.0-7.fc11

How reproducible:
Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.launch the 'top' program in a terminal (so that you can observe the CPU usage)
2.play a video file in any media player
3.observe the CPU usage of the player process rise to an extremely high level
  
Actual results:
CPU usage is very high, video plays choppy

Expected results:
CPU usage is 'reasonable' (on Windows, using VLC, the CPU usage never goes above ~10%)

Additional info:
Videocard: intel 865G
KMS enabled
Tried various configurations of affected programs (VLC/Totem/Mplayer) to no avail
