Description Gerrit Slomma 2009-08-14 12:23:29 UTC
Created attachment 357450 [details]
backported coretemp.c

Description of problem:

The coretemp.ko is missing in the RHEL5.3 kernel. lm_sensors from RHEL-repo supports the coretemp module.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

lm_sensors-2.10.7-4.el5
kernel-2.6.18-128.4.1.el5

RHEL5.4b with 2.6.18-157 is affected as well.

How reproducible:

Install any RHEL5 kernel with a Intel Core-CPU plus lm_sensors.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install RHEL5 on any Intel Core-machine
2. Install lm_sensors an do sensors-detect
3. no sensors are detected

Actual results:

no sensors are detected

Expected results:

sensors are detected

Additional info:

I did a backport of the coretemp.c included in kernel-rt-2.6.24.7-93.el5rt.src.rpm
This works fine for me.

What is your opinion?

Comment 1 Prarit Bhargava 2009-08-18 18:07:52 UTC
A hwmon update was done in 5.4 -- 5.3 does not support coretemp.

If you need coretemp in 5.3 please contact your support representative and request it for a z-stream kernel.

Thanks,

P.
