Description Juan Francisco Cantero Hurtado 2009-08-24 19:03:35 UTC
In my test I have used two computers:

1.- Netbook with fedora11, pidgin 2.6.1 and UVC webcam
2.- PC with fedora11, pidgin 2.6.1 and GSPCA webcam

I have run pidgin in the two computers, do a video call and the PC doesn't show/send the video. Terminal show this error "libv4l2: error requesting 4 buffers: Device or resource busy".

The GSPCA webcam works with cheese and gstreamer-properties.

I have tried in the PC with a daily-livecd of ubuntu karmic and the "official" PPA of pidgin. In the netbook I have used always fedora11. The video call works perfect in two computers.

Also I have tried with kernel-PAE-2.6.30.5-32.fc11 and libv4l 0.6.0 in the PC but this continued with the same problem.

I think that the bug http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/10050 in pidgin is related but I created a new bug here because in ubuntu karmic works perfect so the problem is in fedora.

I have a similar problem with a GSPCA webcam.
Only, I have this error :
"libv4l2: error converting / decoding frame data: v4l-convert: error destination buffer too small" when I received or sent a video call.

I add the debuginfo in attachment.

I have lost an information, the LED webcam is active during the test, but no image... It's true for my friend with my receiver or me.

Comment 4 tedtheologian 2009-09-07 10:32:26 UTC
I think the problem is the 352x288 resolution. Look at pidgin debug when trying a video call.

This message is a reminder that Fedora 11 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 11. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '11'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 11's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 11 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 6 Bug Zapper 2010-06-28 14:17:04 UTC
Fedora 11 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-06-25. Fedora 11 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
