This works as expected - it removes all partitions containing a Linux filesystem and uses the new free space to create a new partition layout. For more information, please see the installation guide: http://docs.fedoraproject.org/install-guide/f11/en-US/html/s1-diskpartauto-x86.html Remember that installation is a risky procedure to begin with, and you should always make backups of important data before continuing. We're working on some improved wording for this screen likely for F13 to hopefully fix up the ambiguity you see, but it's definitely not going to involve changing the behavior of this option. (In reply to comment #1) > This works as expected - it removes all partitions containing a Linux > filesystem and uses the new free space to create a new partition layout. I see, mine understanding of "Linux system" is definitely different than yours. > please see the installation guide: I do not have available other machine to check anything online when installing, I even wouldn't think of anything like that having ready before installing. > you should always make backups of important data before continuing I did it, on a different partition than the system was, that's what makes me even more unhappy! > ... improved wording ... Yes, rewording sounds good, just do not forget to ask a user whether is sure or not, it's always better to ask twice than lost a single bit. |
