I have a system here with a Radeon HD 4770 video card - PCI ID 1002:94b3 - which hangs on X start unless KMS is disabled (radeon.modeset=0 on kernel command line). With KMS disabled X starts up and works well, except for some corruption of the cursor.

I can't provide logs from the failure situation as I'm booting from live media and the system hangs when the problem occurs, so I've no way to get a log out. But I can provide Xorg.0.log from the success case, when it starts up with KMS disabled. That's attached.
