Description Jurijs Kolomijecs 2009-09-01 21:27:16 UTC
Spec URL: http://irben.id.lv/linux/rpm/SPEC/deadbeef.spec
SRPM URL: http://irben.id.lv/linux/rpm/SRPM/deadbeef-0.1.1-1.fc11.src.rpm
Description: DeaDBeeF is an audio player for GNU/Linux systems with X11 written in C and C++. Features: minimal depends native GTK2 GUI; cuesheet support; mp3, ogg, flac; chiptune formats with subtunes, song-length databases, etc; small memory footprint.

Provided files are for Fedora 11 x86_64. Sorry, this is my first package and I don't know how to find dependencies needed for it.

Comment 1 Martin Gieseking 2009-09-02 19:16:06 UTC
The package requires libmad which is not part of the Fedora because of patent reasons. See also http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAQ#Why_doesn.27t_Fedora_include_support_for_proprietary_formats_like_MP3_or_MPEG.3F
Thus, deadbeef couldn't be added to Fedora either. However, libmad is available through rpmfusion.org and you can probably get your package added to their repositories.

Concerning BuildRequires/Requires, you can find more information about finding the necessary dependencies here: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Guidelines
This page is also a good introduction to other formal requirements for Fedora packages.

Martin, thanks for your prompt reply on this issue. In fact you were faster with your reply than me with reviewing. Regarding your hint I assume it is not necessary anymore to review this and I can close this issue?

Comment 3 Jurijs Kolomijecs 2009-09-03 05:26:37 UTC
Thank you for reviewing package. Looks like yes, you may close this issue.

Have a luck!

Yes, I think so too. Maybe it could be possible to remove the MP3 support but then the player wouldn't be of much use. It's probably better to go with rpmfusion.

xmms doesn't ship with mp3 support and that's been a long time staple...
