Note the server is already updated to: xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.6.99.903-2.fc12.x86_64 From koji, otherwise X would not start at all. Can you please get some logs? backtrace in the X log... -- Fedora Bugzappers volunteer triage team https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers Note this backtrace is with xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.7.0-5.fc12.x86_64 Just tried again with xorg-x11-server-Xorg-1.7.1-2.fc12.x86_64, the bug is still there. Also tried on a system with integrated Intel graphics, although the backtrace points to the Xserver the problem does not happen on the integrated Intel graphics system. This is an X server bug in EXA, I'm talking with upstream to see what is required to fix it. Since this bugzilla report was filed, there have been several major updates in various components of the Xorg system, which may have resolved this issue. Users who have experienced this problem are encouraged to upgrade their system to the latest version of their packages (at least F12Beta, but even better if the very latest versions). Please, if you experience this problem on the up-to-date system, let us now in the comment for this bug, or whether the upgraded system works for you.
