Description Douglas Silas 2009-10-21 03:11:49 UTC
Task: document sssd as applies to authentication, LDAP, service access, etc. in the Deployment Guide (most likely).

...rather than splitting it up into various areas, add an SSSD section somewhere near Controlling Access to Services, after which comes bind, ssh, samba, etc. So, based on sssd's definition[1], I...it would fit somewhere in there, and if the control of sssd via authconfig eventuates, add a section to "Authentication Configuration" as well. At present the only configuration methods are good old hacking of config files :)

wrt IPA books, because SSSD enhances IPA client functionality, there will be some doc in the Client Config Guide, but I think not a lot. It's more a case of, "Without SSSD you get this, with SSSD you get that. To set up SSSD, refer to <here>". Also because SSSD is part of the base OS, I don't want to have any significant doc for it elsewhere...

[1] SSSD stands for System Security Services Daemon. It is a service to provide access to different identity and authentication sources.

This has been resolved, as the SSSD section is now part of the Authentication Configuration chapter, which is currently ON_QA (bug #561642).
