Propose this for F12 blocker, since it is a show stopper.

Comment 3 Jérôme Glisse 2009-10-28 19:11:05 UTC
I don't think this is kernel or ati bug here, according to log we set a fbcon which is big enough to fill the screen, i believe it's the ncurse install program which is buggy.

Comment 4 Adam Jackson 2009-10-29 22:51:25 UTC
The installer is completely visible, just not positioned where you expected it? That's a funny definition of "blocker".

Comment 5 Qian Cai 2009-10-30 02:41:23 UTC
My original thought is that it is blocker prevent me showing my friends and family about F12's shiny boot screen.

Comment 6 Matěj Cepl 2009-11-02 02:03:46 UTC
Could you actually install Fedora (even with squeezed monitor) and are you able to run Xorg (it doesn't matter it fails, just to run it)?

If yes, please attach your X server config file (/etc/X11/xorg.conf, if available), output of the dmesg command, and X server log file (/var/log/Xorg.*.log) to the bug report as individual uncompressed file attachments using the bugzilla file attachment link below.

We will review this issue again once you've had a chance to attach this information.

Thanks in advance.

Comment 14 Dave Airlie 2009-11-04 05:46:09 UTC
does the laptop/desktop have a tv out connector?

Comment 15 Qian Cai 2009-11-04 14:49:29 UTC
Yes, the laptop has one, but it was never used.

Comment 16 Qian Cai 2009-11-04 14:53:29 UTC
Correction -- it may not be a TV out connector, I think it is for an external monitor connector found in common laptops.

Comment 17 Matěj Cepl 2009-11-05 17:19:24 UTC
Since this bugzilla report was filed, there have been several major updates in various components of the Xorg system, which may have resolved this issue. Users who have experienced this problem are encouraged to upgrade their system to the latest version of their packages (at least F12Beta, but even better if the very latest versions).

Please, if you experience this problem on the up-to-date system, let us now in the comment for this bug, or whether the upgraded system works for you.

If you won't be able to reply in one month, I will have to close this bug as INSUFFICIENT_DATA. Thank you.

[This is a bulk message for all open Fedora Rawhide Xorg-related bugs. I'm adding myself to the CC list for each bug, so I'll see any comments you make after this and do my best to make sure every issue gets proper attention.]

Comment 18 Qian Cai 2009-11-07 01:08:24 UTC
