Description Jindrich Novy 2009-10-30 10:02:38 UTC
Spec URL: http://people.redhat.com/jnovy/files/xz/xz.spec
SRPM URL: http://download.devel.redhat.com/brewroot/packages/xz/4.999.9/0.2.beta.20091007git.el5/src/xz-4.999.9-0.2.beta.20091007git.el5.src.rpm

Description:
XZ Utils are an attempt to make LZMA compression easy to use on free (as in
freedom) operating systems. This is achieved by providing tools and libraries
which are similar to use than the equivalents of the most popular existing
compression algorithms.

LZMA is a general purpose compression algorithm designed by Igor Pavlov as
part of 7-Zip. It provides high compression ratio while keeping the
decompression speed fast.

rpmlint is silent, package builds against RHEL5

The only thing is that it's not a final version, it's a git snapshot of beta tree.

There is no other option, upstream lingers to release an official version for a long time. The current version is well tested. We have actually rebuilt the whole F12 with XZ payload compression with no problems with (de)compression-ability, which proves it well tested :)

XZ is now imported and built.
