Description James Cassell 2009-11-02 18:15:33 UTC
Description of problem:
Sometimes, when I resume from suspend, the screen is black, except for the mouse cursor. If I switch to a virtual terminal, I can't see anything. If I log in to the virtual terminal as root, and "init 3 && init 5" gnome comes back up and the screen is not black anymore, but I've lost my session.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
xorg-x11-drv-nouveau-0.0.15-15.20091022git718a41b.fc12

How reproducible:
40% on any given resume

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Suspend
2. Wakeup
3. Suspend
4. Wakeup
5. Repeat

Actual results:
Sometimes, on suspending, it comes up to a black screen

Expected results:
It should resume properly, and I should be able to see the screen

Additional info:
When I go to the virtual terminal as root, if I do "killall -9 gnome-screensaver" then switch back to the gnome VT where I can see my cursor, if I move my cursor around, it changes based on what is behind it (e.g., to a hand or I-bar) but the rest of the screen is still black.

I've also tried "rmmod nouveau && modprobe nouveau" but to no avail

Can you take a look at https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_debug_Xorg_problems. Specifically, if you can attach your /var/log/Xorg.0.log log file when the problem occurs?
