Description Jonathan Larmour 2009-11-03 01:00:40 UTC
Description of problem:

If Anaconda should have a problem such as hitting an exception and be forced to exit, the computer is left in a useless state. After being given the opportunity to save debug/traceback info, once you select "Exit" the screen goes completely black with just a mouse pointer. Ctrl-Alt-Del does not work (unless you switch the VT, but many users won't know that).

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):

Fedora 12 Beta (x86_64) - anaconda 12.37

How reproducible:

Tickle any known amanda bug which provokes an exception (e.g. bug #527084).

Actual results:

Black screen, except for mouse pointer. ctrl-alt-del has no effect. No apparent way forward.

Expected results:

IMO, a dialog box should come up offering the user the choice of restarting or shutting down.

Oops, where I said "amanda bug" I did of course mean anaconda.
