Satellite 5.1.0 runs on RHEL-4 and i386, x86_64, s390, s390x arches. java-1.5.0-sun has reached end of its life and customers running Satellite 5.1.0 will have to switch to java-1.5.0-ibm. Simply publishing a satellite errata with appropriate build of java-1.5.0-ibm wouldn't work, since that errata wouldn't show as relevant in RHN for affected satellites (no corresponding package installed). What I propose is to create a package called java-sun-to-ibm-bridge, that would require jre-ibm and obsolete jre-sun. This package with java-1.5.0-ibm would be published with a new satellite errata. Solution proposed in comment #1 wouldn't work. The agreed solution for the migration will be: 1) one security errata which will contain latest java-1.5.0-sun with all important security fixes and an advice to switch to java-1.5.0-ibm 2) one enhancement errata adding java-1.5.0-ibm to Satellite 5.1 channels (so that customers can actually install IBM's Java). Package java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0.22-1jpp.1.el4 has been pushed into rhn.webqa An advisory has been issued which should help the problem described in this bug report. This report is therefore being closed with a resolution of ERRATA. For more information on therefore solution and/or where to find the updated files, please follow the link below. You may reopen this bug report if the solution does not work for you. http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2009-1662.html |
