Can you give me a URL for the package you're trying to
install?

Hmmm, I downloaded
    http://e-www.motorola.com/products/softmodem/support/sm56_5.1_i386.rpm
and it installed fine for me. That's about all I can do from
an rpm point of view.

However, after reading the release notes and the warning at
the above URL, I think you might want to look at
    http://www.linmodems.org/
as installing a driver for a winmodem is gonna be non-trivial.
