The user should be able to mark alerts as "working on them". This should be possible on individual and multiple alerts.
In addition to the simple 'checkmark' it should be possible to put a note next to this. Also the name of the user setting the alert to "wip" should be recorded.

This is necessary in admin teams so that admins know who is working on what and do not step on others toes.

This has been added as "Acknowledge Alert" functionality in various parts of the UI.
