Pitivi worked fine for me on Fedora 11, so this must be a new problem with either Pitivi/Fedora. Let me know if there's any additional info you need.

Comment 3 Steevithak 2009-12-03 21:59:03 UTC
After some googling, I figured this one out. It's a dependency problem in the pitivi RPM file. Pitivi depends on another package, called python-setuptools, but neither RPM nor Yum seem to be aware of this, so installing pitivi via Yum will fail because it doesn't include the python-setuptools RPM.

A work around until the pitivi RPM is fixed is to type this from the command line:

yum install python-setuptools.noarch-0.6c9-5.fc12.noarch

I suppose, technically, it's a separate bug that pitivi crashes so badly with no error message just because of a missing library - it should be a little more graceful and offer the user an explanation for why it crashed that doesn't involve filing bug reports and googling. Maybe a dialog box that says "couldn't find python-setuptools, try installing manually" would be a good start.

Confirm that the fix on #3 works.
