The current emacs-common-ess is incompatible with later versions of R in respect of viewing R function help from an R session running within emacs. Am happy to test and update etc. if that would expedite matters. Yep, I just started doing some R coding in emacs again and got hit by this bug. Updates have been submitted, when they get pushed to updates-testing, please try them out and give them +1 karma votes if they work for you, that way they'll get pushed to stable more quickly. emacs-common-ess-5.8-1.fc12 has been pushed to the Fedora 12 testing repository. If problems still persist, please make note of it in this bug report. If you want to test the update, you can install it with su -c 'yum --enablerepo=updates-testing update emacs-common-ess'.
