Description Christopher Beland 2009-12-12 21:20:47 UTC
I installed Fedora 12 using a LiveUSB image, took all available updates, and rebooted. The gdm login screen has a dialog box that says only "Fedora release 12 (Constantine)" and below that, highlighted in blue, "Other..."

This is highly visible and not very user-friendly: there is no intuitive indication that the user should click on or type anything in particular, and there is no indication what this screen is for.

Previous behavior was to list all relevant usernames, but Bug 449728 and Bug 433649 point out that this could be a security risk. Whether or not usernames are listed by default, there should be a clear prompt for what action to take next. If there is a list of usernames, "Choose your username:" would work, for example.

If "Other" is the only option that would be presented, it makes more sense to move immediately to the next step, where a text entry box is shown with the prompt "Username:" and a button that says "Log In".
