Description Alex Lancaster 2009-12-18 21:21:53 UTC
Summary:

SELinux is preventing /usr/libexec/polkit-1/polkit-agent-helper-1 access to a
leaked /tmp/log file descriptor.

Detailed Description:

[polkit-agent-he has a permissive type (policykit_auth_t). This access was not
denied.]

SELinux denied access requested by the polkit-agent-he command. It looks like
this is either a leaked descriptor or polkit-agent-he output was redirected to a
file it is not allowed to access. Leaks usually can be ignored since SELinux is
just closing the leak and reporting the error. The application does not use the
descriptor, so it will run properly. If this is a redirection, you will not get
output in the /tmp/log. You should generate a bugzilla on selinux-policy, and it
will get routed to the appropriate package. You can safely ignore this avc.

Allowing Access:

You can generate a local policy module to allow this access - see FAQ
(http://fedora.redhat.com/docs/selinux-faq-fc5/#id2961385)

This occurred at the moment I clicked "Apply" after I unchecked the "Connecting automatically" checkbox in the NetworkManager "Edit Connections" dialog.

Comment 2 Daniel Walsh 2009-12-18 21:29:57 UTC
Is NetworkManager creating a file in /tmp/log?

Comment 3 Alex Lancaster 2009-12-18 21:39:39 UTC
Created attachment 379302 [details]
excerpt from bottom of /tmp/log

Yes it adds some info to the bottom of that file.

Comment 4 Daniel Walsh 2009-12-21 14:26:12 UTC
Well NetworkManager should not be creating this file in /tmp, probably should go under /var/log/NetworkManager

And it should close it on exec

fcntl(fd, F_SETFD, FD_CLOEXEC)

Comment 5 Dan Williams 2010-06-26 00:18:09 UTC
Which file exactly is getting written to? NM doesn't actually open any file in /tmp, so this is probably PolicyKit.

Comment 6 Bug Zapper 2010-11-04 03:01:02 UTC
This message is a reminder that Fedora 12 is nearing its end of life.
Approximately 30 (thirty) days from now Fedora will stop maintaining
and issuing updates for Fedora 12. It is Fedora's policy to close all
bug reports from releases that are no longer maintained. At that time
this bug will be closed as WONTFIX if it remains open with a Fedora
'version' of '12'.

Package Maintainer: If you wish for this bug to remain open because you
plan to fix it in a currently maintained version, simply change the 'version'
to a later Fedora version prior to Fedora 12's end of life.

Bug Reporter: Thank you for reporting this issue and we are sorry that
we may not be able to fix it before Fedora 12 is end of life. If you
would still like to see this bug fixed and are able to reproduce it
against a later version of Fedora please change the 'version' of this
bug to the applicable version. If you are unable to change the version,
please add a comment here and someone will do it for you.

Although we aim to fix as many bugs as possible during every release's
lifetime, sometimes those efforts are overtaken by events. Often a
more recent Fedora release includes newer upstream software that fixes
bugs or makes them obsolete.

The process we are following is described here:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/BugZappers/HouseKeeping

Comment 7 Bug Zapper 2010-12-04 01:29:17 UTC
Fedora 12 changed to end-of-life (EOL) status on 2010-12-02. Fedora 12 is
no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any further
security or bug fix updates. As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
Fedora please feel free to reopen this bug against that version.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed.
