Description Stephen Gallagher 2009-12-21 18:51:33 UTC
Description of problem:
Options for configuring the SSSD are displayed empty when left at their defaults. To be less confusing to users, they should be presented with <DEFAULT> or some other (display-only) value that shows that they are unset.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
authconfig-6.0.0-2.fc12.x86_64

How reproducible:
Every time

Steps to Reproduce:
Create or edit an SSSD configuration

Actual results:
Any value that hasn't been explicitly set is left blank. This gives users the impression that all entries are mandatory.

Expected results:
Entries that have not been explicitly set should indicate in some reasonable manner that they are currently set at their defaults (and there should also be a button to restore them to this value)

Additional info:
In a future version of the SSSDConfig API, each potential option will contain a flag to note whether it MUST be changed from the default (e.g. server name) for the domain to function. These entries SHOULD appear blank once this functionality is available.

SSSD bug https://fedorahosted.org/sssd/ticket/349 has been opened to address the mandatory flag needs.

Authconfig is being redesigned to have a more sensible interface. This bug is no longer relevant.
