Description Chris Ricker 2001-10-31 23:00:00 UTC
At least Documentation, and probably many other parts of the RH web site
are using images in GIF format. This is a bad idea for both legal (you
didn't *really* pay the stupid Unisys licensing fee, did you? ;-) and
technical reasons.

For example,
<http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.2-Manual/install-guide/s1-guimode-choose-lang.html>
loads the image
<http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/linux/RHL-7.2-Manual/install-guide/figs/guimode/lang.gif>

Please see <http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/gif.html> if you have further
questions.

The documentation department is aware of the reasons to not use GIFs. We plan to
start
using PNGs with the next release of our Red Hat Linux and Red Hat Network
documentation
now that there is better Web browser support for PNGs.
