2.start listening mode in host 5.5 with -M rhel5.4.4
# /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm -drive file=win28k-r2-ide-147.qcow2,if=ide -no-hpet -rtc-td-hack -usbdevice tablet -startdate now -smp 2 -m 2G -net nic,model=e1000,macaddr=20:20:20:11:23:12,vlan=0 -net tap,vlan=0,script=/etc/qemu-ifup -cpu qemu64,+sse2 -name r2 -monitor stdio -vnc :6 -M rhel5.4.4 -incoming tcp:0:5889
3.start migration

Actual results:
In dest host qemu monitor:
(qemu) Unknown savevm section type 105
load of migration failed

Expected results:

Additional info:
migration with -M rhel5.4.4 from 5.5 to 5.4.4 failed too.

Comment 1 Lawrence Lim 2010-01-23 01:11:35 UTC
Strange. I thought I updated the bug with QA-ack earlier.
Raising this as an Exception since it is one of the key features for 5.5.

Comment 2 Lawrence Lim 2010-01-23 01:17:49 UTC
During bug verification, please check if the patch fix Bug 555649.

Comment 3 Miya Chen 2010-01-26 05:25:24 UTC
After migrate from 5.5 to 5.4.4 with -M rhel5.4.4, nothing is in dest vnc screen, but it cannot get "load of migration failed...." in qemu monitor, `info status` in dest host got "running".

Comment 4 Juan Quintela 2010-01-26 13:11:19 UTC
Set patch that fixes all the migrations.

We collapsed two changes in 5.5, and then we only backport one of them to 5.4.z.

Then 5.4.4 and 5.5 have a different idea of what cpu version 8 mean.
