Is there a way to disable the onboard SCSI in the bios? I think the problem is that the designates the primary controller as the first one it finds as it scans the PCI bus order. If the integrated controller is found first, that's the one it tries to boot from. Does that help? That's just a guess, but it's the first thing that comes to mind. I attempted to disable the integrated SCSI in the BIOS but there was not an option for this. It shows "Present" as the only option and cannot be changed in the BIOS. I will consult the manual to see if I have missed something and report back to you tomorrow with the results. According to Dell, the integated Adaptec 7899 SCSI controller on the 1550 cannot be disabled. What next? Can you attach the initrd? If it's too big, can you email it as an attachment to me? What does the boot loader config look like (/boot/grub/grub.conf if using grub, /etc/lilo.conf for lilo)? It looks like the root= option to the kernel isn't correct Closing due to inactivity. Please reopen if you have more information. This problem has been resolved. See link http://people.redhat.com/tcallawa/dpt |
