Not sure if this is related, but I have gnubg-0.9.0.1-8.fc12.x86_64 and when I try to run gnubg, I just get the start up sound truncated to about 1 second's duration and nothing else -- the program fails to start. I've found that I can work around the problem if I first run and close FreeCell Solitaire and then immediately run GNU Backgammon. I guess FreeCell is initializing something that Backgammon needs???
